Keith West

Keith specialises in environmental law and resource management for The Law Firm clients.

He acts as a consultant to local authorities and Crown agencies and departments - including the Invercargill City Council, the Minister of Conservation (in the southern region), and a number of government departments including the Department of Conservation.

His interest in resource management and environmental law stems in part from his many outdoor recreation activities in Southland, Central Otago and Fiordland.

Keith can assist with everything from resource consent applications and submissions to hearings before local authorities, the Environment Court, and the High Court.

A member of the Resource Management Law Association and the New Zealand Planning Institute (affiliate), he is also a formerdirector and trustee of the YMCA and legal advisor to a number of community groups and organisations.

Keith is the chair of the Conservation Board and a member of the management committee of Whenua Hou on Codfish Island.Both positions appointed by the Minister of Conservation. Keith is also a trustee of the Forest Hill Foundation; established to create a predator free mainland island within and including the Forest Hill Scenic Reserve.
